Power Packages

Modern-Aire ventilating offers a complete line of power packages. All motors are centrifugal blower motors known for high performance, fire safety and quiet operation. Internal motors are available in 325, 450, 600, 1000 and 1200 cfm increments. External motors for outside roof or side wall mounting are available at 1400 cfm. We also offer 836 and 1266 cfm inline attic blower motors, which can be installed with in your duct run. Optional silencer ducting is also available to help reduce the noise level of your remote and inline blowers.

Lighting System

Illuminate your cooktop in style with Modern-Aire Ventilating. We use LED bulbs in our hoods for their energy efficiency. In the simplest terms, a light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor device that emits light when an electric current is passed through it. Light is produced when the particles that carry the current (known as electrons and holes) combine together within the semiconductor material.

Switching

All Modern-Aire Ventilation units are controlled by a solid state variable speed motor control. This switch gives you infinite control over your ventilation needs. From a simmer to wok cooking, you set the motor to your precise ventilation needs. All lighting needs are controlled by a solid state dimmer switch. You control the amount of lighting you need, from full bright total illumination to a safety night light. This combination of switching gives you total control of your ventilation and lighting needs.

Power Packages

Internal Blower

How it works

The blower motor sits inside the hood housing and exhausts air through ductwork in the wall or ceiling.

Best for

Standard residential kitchens with straightforward duct runs, where installation simplicity is a priority.

Noise level

Moderate - motor noise is contained within the hood body.

CFM available

200–2,400 CFM depending on model.

External (Remote) Blower

How it works

The motor is installed remotely, outside on the home on either the roof or side wall away from the kitchen.

Best for

Premium and luxury kitchens where minimal operational noise is a priority. Also useful for long duct runs where a more powerful motor is needed at the duct termination point.

Noise level

Very low in the kitchen, motor sound is physically separated from the cooking space.

CFM available

1,400 CFM depending on motor selection.

Inline Blower

How it works

The motor is typically installed within the duct run between the hood and the exterior exhaust outlet, most often in the attic.

Best for

Kitchens where reducing in-kitchen noise matters but an exterior blower installation isn't practical.

Noise level

Low to moderate - quieter than internal, less remote than external.

CFM available

836 and 1266 CFM depending on motor selection.

Optional silencer ducting

Best for

Projects where noise reduction is a priority

Use cases

Remote or inline blower setups

Lighting System

Better visibility while cooking

Integrated LED lighting shines directly onto the range or cooktop, helping homeowners see pots, pans, burners, and food more clearly while cooking.

Variable Dimming Options

Continuously variable dimming is used to control brightness for use during different kitchen activities, from detailed food prep to general cooking.

Supports both function and design

Lighting is not only practical; it also helps highlight the hood, backsplash, range, and surrounding materials. This is important for homeowners and designers who want the hood area to feel finished and intentional.

Useful for luxury and open-concept kitchens

In kitchens where the hood is a focal point, integrated lighting can help the cooking area feel polished while improving everyday usability.

Switching

Variable ventilation control

Multi-speed or variable fan control allows users to adjust airflow based on cooking intensity. Lower settings can be used for light simmering, while higher settings can support heavier cooking.

Better control for high-BTU cooking

For gas ranges or professional-style cooking equipment, stronger ventilation may be needed when heat, smoke, steam, and grease increase. Variable control helps users respond to those conditions.

Simpler day-to-day usability

Controls should be positioned as practical and easy to use. Homeowners should understand that they can adjust the hood based on what they are cooking instead of running the fan at one constant speed.

Lighting control for different kitchen moments

Switching also includes lighting usability. Bright lighting supports cooking and prep, while dimmer settings can create softer illumination when the kitchen is being used casually.

Helps balance performance and comfort

Adjustable controls allow the hood to provide more ventilation when needed and less airflow when cooking is lighter. This can help make the hood feel more comfortable and practical for everyday use.

Fire Safe Baffle Filter System

Filtering is the heart of your ventilation system. A filter system must remove all grease and contaminates to complete its job. Modern-Aire Ventilating believes like most major range manufacturers and restaurant supply houses that the most efficient filtration system is the Baffle Filter. Unlike non-filtered range hoods, a Baffle Filter catches up to 97% of all grease and grease particles before they ever enter the interior of the range hood, making clean up a breeze. Unlike mesh filters, the air passing through a Baffle Filter is not restricted, thus allowing a smoother and quieter transition. Perhaps the most important aspect of the Baffle Filter is that the baffles in the filter are positioned to eliminate direct passage of flame through the filter thus making it one of the safest and most efficient filtration systems available today.

Our dishwasher safe stainless steel baffle filter systems are manufactured of solid 300 series stainless steel. When you look into a Modern-Aire range hood, the beauty of a stainless steel baffle filter system enhances it’s looks. Our baffle filters have rounded edges on the baffles to protect your fingers from sharp edges during removal. Handle our competitors baffle filters and you will feel the difference.

Maintenance & Ownership

Regular maintenance helps your Modern Aire hood or liner continue performing as intended. Clean filters, proper exterior care, and timely support can help maintain airflow, reduce grease buildup, and extend the life of your ventilation system.

How often should I clean my baffle filters?

For typical home cooking, clean your stainless steel baffle filters about once per month. For frequent cooking, frying, or high-BTU gas range use, clean them every two weeks to help maintain airflow and reduce grease buildup. For typical home cooking, clean your stainless steel baffle filters about once per month. For frequent cooking, frying, or high-BTU gas range use, clean them every two weeks to help maintain airflow and reduce grease buildup.

Remove the filters from the hood and place them in the dishwasher, or soak them in hot water with degreasing dish soap for 10–15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and let the filters dry completely before reinstalling.

Use a soft cloth and mild soap or a finish-safe cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads, bleach, harsh chemicals, or rough scrubbing, especially on brass, copper, zinc, antique, or custom-painted finishes. Please see our use and care guide for more specific info.

Check inside the hood housing, canopy interior, or blower housing panel for the model label. If you cannot find it, contact your dealer or Modern Aire with your purchase date, dimensions, finish, and original order details.

Contact Modern Aire or your dealer if the blower becomes unusually loud, airflow seems reduced after filter cleaning, lighting stops working after replacing bulbs you need replacement filters and cannot confirm the size, or you are modifying an existing hood during a renovation.

Clean filters regularly to protect airflow and reduce strain on the ventilation system. For blower noise, weak airflow, lighting issues, or control problems, contact support instead of attempting motor or electrical repairs yourself.

What product information should I review before ordering a custom range hood?

Before ordering, confirm your hood style, mounting type, dimensions, material, finish, blower configuration, and quoted lead time. Modern Aire can customize the dimensions, materials, trim, and shape of many wall and island models, and most models are completed in 6 to 8 weeks, with larger custom designs sometimes taking longer.

Modern Aire range hoods include a 3-year parts warranty and 3-year labor warranty from the date of purchase. If a problem arises, customers are encouraged to contact the company directly for support.

You can compare finish options on the Materials page and see completed installations in the Gallery. For the most accurate finish selection, request physical samples through a dealer before finalizing your order.

Our standard finishes shown in stock are available within normal lead times. We also offer custom painted finishes to match cabinetry, ranges, or wall paint. Because online finish images may vary from the actual material, requesting samples through a dealer is recommended before ordering.
